From under the clear, dark skies of Southern California's Anza-Borrego Desert, the stars shine as brightly as almost anywhere on Earth.  On the night of April 16, 2007, this hour-long exposure captured the countless stars streaking from east to west across the southwestern skyan effect caused by the Earth's rotation in the opposite direction.
